The cheapest tool in the shop
A pencil and a cheap notebook beat a good memory every time.
Everybody wants to talk about the expensive tools. The printer, the laser, the thing with a brand name etched into the side. Nobody talks about the pencil.
Here is the truth: I forget everything. The bit size that worked. The setting that finally stopped the fish from dying. The dumb idea I had at one in the morning that turned out to be the whole project. If I do not write it down in the moment, it is gone by breakfast, and I get to learn it all over again the hard way.
So there is a cheap notebook on the bench now, with a pencil tied to it by a bit of string so it cannot wander off. Half of what is in there is garbage. That is fine. The other half is the only reason any of these builds get finished.
This page is that notebook, basically. Stuff that is not a whole project. Just notes from the bench. Pull up a stool.
